Here comes the old stuff

Tue Dec 11, 2007, 6:33 PM
I decided to put up some past work for lack of inspiration of late.

I have this hard drive full of stuff, might as well share some.

Starting with a fine shot of tequila...yum yum.

Emo denial

Mon Apr 16, 2007, 8:25 AM
So the newspaper had a whole story about the EMO crowd. It talked about what the stereotypes are, what the music is like, how it originated.

But the thing I noticed that made me laugh, and seems typical of a lot of teens is, the denial aspect and the aspect that people treat them differently.

Well hello! Just like the Punks in the 1970s and 80s, and Goth crowd, when you dress dramatically, people are going to treat you differently. Why, because you dress like you want to be different. And I kinda thought many of you do want to be different?

Then comes the paradox. You want to be unique and different, but you dress like everyone else in the same group. I mean it's not subtle either. It looks like a dress code, so much so, that there is a clear list of what Emo kids wear. If you really wanted to be individual, you would dress with your unique style.

Then there is the denial. The newspaper had some dialog from people who dress that way, I have seen it here and other places. There are kids, who listen to the music, dress the style and then claim they are not Emo! Come on! If you are ashamed of it, don't dress like it, but at least be true to yourself and admit you are in the group. That is what bugs me. I thought the style and ideal was cool for a while but now hearing about all the whining that people are judging you, I have lost respect. I have lost respect because you are not being true to yourself when you are clearly dressing up according like a well defined group of people, listening to the same genre of music, and then claim you are not part of that group.

I don't remember the 80's punks denying their group affiliation, nor the Goths. But it sure seems a lot of Emo kids doing that.

Sure, you're going to say "People don't understand us." Well that is certainly true, and mostly because you really don't understand either.

Use the dA watermark correctly

Thu Mar 22, 2007, 8:47 AM
So I see people are putting the dA watermark on their full view images. Fine, if you are selling prints of it, I can understand that.

But if you are not selling prints and just showing your work, don't bother. I mean jeeze, if you are sharing your work, share it. Don't ruin it with the watermark. Can you imagine going to a gallery and enjoying the art with watermarks all over the pieces.

Limit the size you can full view if it's important.

What is....

Wed Mar 7, 2007, 6:06 PM
...the difference between myspace and dA?

dA allows nudity for those "yay, look at me members" ;-)

I guess art for some is goofy ways of doing self portraits (aka snapshots)...but who am I to define what art is?

This joke is in no way directed to any one individual, it's just an observation. However, if you are worried it is about you, you probably are such a person.

My Journal problem

Mon Mar 5, 2007, 9:43 PM
Every time I make a journal, I insult someone, and the next day, after feeling guilty, i delete it. Just, this is my first journal--well officially anyway, assuming I don't kill it in the morning.

Since I'm not ripping on some dA theme or a group, I think it's likely I won't nuke this thread. But who knows?

  • Listening to: Armin Van Buuren ASOT 262
  • Reading: the words I type
  • Watching: the screen I type on
  • Drinking: twisted pine pale ale
